Today we say goodbye to an icon in the movie industry responsible for many famous 80′s classic movies and the Home Alone franchise.  John Hughes was a producer, director and screenwriter.  He started writing for National Lampoon magazine and worked on the National Lampoon movie spoofs before his directing debut with Sixteen Candles (1984).  The movie was a big hit which led to a stream of teen comedies including The Breakfast Club (1985), Weird Science (1985), and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986) and Pretty in Pink (1986) . John Hughes was responsible for the success of famous stars in the 80′s such as Molly Ringwold and Mathew Broderick.

He has also been involved with producing, writing, and directing movies in such films as Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), Home Alone (1990), 101 Dalmations (1996), and Flubber (1997).

John Hughes will be remembered the most for those 80′s classic movies or classic teen movies and for the Home Alone series in the 90s.  He will be truly missed.
